1. In brief

Turbo Hockey does not place any cookies until you have responded to the consent banner. The whole site works without cookies — declining doesn't change what you can view here. The only thing we'd like to measure, with your consent, is the site's audience: which pages are read, how long for, and on what device. It helps us know what content to write next.

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file sent along with a website's pages and kept by your browser on your device. On your next visit, the information it contains may be sent back to the site or to the third-party services that placed it. For simplicity, this policy also uses the term "cookie" to refer to similar technologies: browser local storage, scripts and measurement tags.

3. What the site uses

3.1 Necessary — your consent choice

When you respond to the banner, your answer (accept or decline) is kept in your browser's local storage under the key turbo-consentement, along with the date of your decision. This is not a cookie: nothing is sent to a server, and it's what lets us avoid asking you again on every page. If you decline, this is the only thing that gets written on your device.

The site's interactive tools (the "My contribution" exercise, the avatar quiz) run entirely in your browser and save nothing.

3.2 Audience measurement — with your consent only

If you accept, the site loads Microsoft Clarity, an audience measurement service. It shows us, in aggregate, the pages viewed, the length of visits, and how visitors move through the site. Clarity may place the following cookies:

Microsoft is an independent data controller. Its practices are described in Microsoft's privacy statement. Data is processed in the United States.

3.3 What the site doesn't use

No advertising cookies, no social media pixels, no profiling. The Facebook and YouTube buttons in the footer are simple links: they load nothing until you click them.

4. Your consent

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline audience measurement. Both buttons carry the same weight: declining is just as easy as accepting. Until you respond, nothing loads.

You can change your mind at any time. The "Manage cookies" link, at the bottom of every page, clears your choice and brings the banner back. You can also do it here:

If the purposes ever change (a new tool, a new reason to measure), your previous choice is invalidated and the banner will ask you again.

5. Controlling cookies in your browser

You can also delete cookies or block them from being placed directly in your browser settings (under "Privacy" or "Cookies and site data"). If you clear your local storage, the banner will reappear on your next visit. For your general advertising preferences in Canada: youradchoices.ca.

6. Your rights

In accordance with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Québec's Law 25) and Canada's PIPEDA, you have the right:

• to know what information we hold about you and to access it;
• to have it corrected or deleted;
• to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting your access to the site;
• to file a complaint with Québec's Commission d'accès à l'information or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights are not being respected.

In practice, Turbo Hockey does not hold any personal information related to your browsing: audience measurement is aggregated, and your consent choice stays in your browser.
